Our top 10 geocaches of 2022

Well what a year that was! We finally bid farewell to face masks and Covid lockdowns. We were able to holiday abroad again. We nearly won Eurovision. We did win the woman’s footie Euro Cup, and I ended up in the middle of hurricane Ian, Florida’s worst hurricane for 87 years (along with a few other tourists, bonkers enough to go to Florida in hurricane season!)

But aside from the highs and lows of international competitions and freak weather, we had another great Geocaching year. Once again we journeyed to towns and cities across the UK and beyond, to discover so many great caches. But which were the best?….

After a trip down memory lane I managed to finally come up with our favourite geocaches of 2022 - those we found the most fun, inventive and memorable. Here they are:

1. SallyMINEder. (Traditional, Trewillis, Cornwall) CO: Soapy Cove.

2. ‘The Hotspot’. (Webcam, Exmouth, Devon) CO: Davy Boy.

3. Free Freddy. (Mystery, Ely, Cambs). CO: Shadyone44 & Danielk1bg

10. FF No22 Party (Mystery, Burwell, Cambs) CO: FolkFen.

With so many great caches out there, it was once again difficult to decide on our top 10, so here are those that just missed out...

12.  Time and Tide waits for…earthcachers. (Earthcache, Wells-next-to-sea, Norfolk) CO: D’Ennephe.

20. RYO62 and Heidirose4789 Christmas Cache 2018. (Letterbox, Haslingfield, Cambs) CO: RYO62 and Heidirose4789.

A big thank you to all of these COs for the huge amount of work and effort that went into creating and maintaining these caches. All of them helped give us some happy memories of 2022.

And a huge thank you to the many, many, other COs whose geocaches we found this year, but we just didn’t have room to mention in this brief list. We really do appreciate all the hard work and effort you put into creating and setting them, so that we could go and find them. Thank you :-)
