May: From East to West & back again!

So May was one of our best months of the year so far. Almost 140 caches found, from Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire in the East, to Somerset’s motorway services and the misty shores of Cornwall in the West.

Our 10 day holiday to Cornwall helped give our caching numbers a nice boost along with our terrain ratings as we embarked on various adventures. From walking precarious cliff top paths to discovering abandoned mines, beautiful caves & stunning beaches. We found a wide variety of caches including nine earthcaches and two wherigos.

Who could forget the ‘pub quiz’ Wherigo that literally had me tearing my hair out and used up 80% of my mobile data allowance as I desperately tried to identify 200 quiz questions and photos!

Then there was the ‘puzzling predicament’ Wherigo at Tehidy Country Park, which had me physically moving a virtual squirrel, Fox and nut from one side of a large lake to another!

But most of all we won’t forget the stunning geological features that so many of the earthcaches took us to, from The Camel’s Head and Kynance Tombolo to St Cuthbert’s Cave and Loe Bar. We learnt a lot and being a former Geography graduate, with a bit of an obsession for coastal landforms, it really was great to see so many along the coastline of one county!

Spurred on by so many interesting finds during our holiday, we couldn’t wait to get out and about on our return home to find some more. Visits to Ely, Stuntney, Soham, Thorndon & Cockfield followed with some fantastic caches including ‘Wherigo the Monks go’, the ‘Tenner’ series, Stuntney TB Hotel and ‘Cockfield North’ series.

The end of the month saw us take a trip down memory lane as we helped Rock Norwich 80s style and grabbed some inventive caches on ‘Roly’s Walk’ including two brilliant field puzzles.

Finally, we brought the month to a close with some fun caches around Cherry Hinton Country Park in Cambridge. I highly recommend ‘Cherry Hinton Water Pipe’ great fun, just make sure you don’t get wet!

Thanks to all the COs of all the caches, our adventures wouldn’t be as enjoyable without the time and effort you all put into setting and maintaining them. It’s very much appreciated.
