The only way to travel...by sofa!

This week kicked off with the annual family gathering at my Aunt and Uncle’s, just over the Norfolk border.  It was an afternoon filled with incredible sights, you would never see anywhere else!  From youngsters tearing around on a mobility scooter; to tots enjoying a boat trip on a lake...in a dingy that had, had several inches of water bailed out of it only moments earlier...; to rides on a sofa towed by a jeep! It was like being in an episode of  Benidorm/Father Ted (the one where the ‘field’ is turned into an amusement park!!). But all joking aside, many happy memories were created, which no doubt will be talked about by my young nieces and nephews for many years to come.  Once the surreal party had come to an end, I decided to take the opportunity to find a couple of local caches still on my unfound list.      First up was the church micro multi in Hockwold. Upon arriving in the little churchyard, I was slightly saddened to ...

Once Upon a Time in a land not far away...

Once upon a time there were two cachers called Sparky_Tarpi, who went on a trip into the Fens to find hidden treasure! Yes this week we headed back out into the Fens on a quest to find two more caches in the fantastic Fairytale Fiasco Series.  We’d already found the ‘Big Bad Wolflets’ cache at Needingworth, and had taken a sneak peek at the final ‘Gingerbread House’ whilst at the Sutton event a couple of weeks ago. What a scary looking chap he was! Clearly based more on the Frankenstein actor Boris rather than the cycling politician, although the mad hair could actually have been either!  After doing a bit of cranking the cache and Boris were in hand. Great fun and a very well executed version of a hide I’ve seen in a few p...

Our cache count was definitely down this month. Having lacked the time, energy or enthusiasm to venture out on some of the long film pot series walks, we didn’t even make 130 finds. Yet, as the old, old saying goes, it’s quality not quantity that matters and never was a truer word spoken. We’ve had some really memorable finds and caching experiences this month thanks to some incredibly creative COs. First up was the brilliant Fairytale Fiasco series. We got another two under our belts - ‘Snow White’ & ‘The Princess & the Frog’ - leaving just one to find before we can grab the final! Luckily the field puzzles at GZ weren’t quite as fiendish as ‘Big Bad Wolflets’, although, I did make rather a meal of what should have been a simple solve on ‘Snow White’. It literally just fell open in the end. Luckily the other half wasn’t around to laugh at how daft I’d been, and I was thrilled to meet the occupants...four cute golden dwarfs.  Speaking of field puzzles, how ...
